WordPress website Maintenance

The number of WordPress websites on the internet has grown significantly over the years. This can be credited to the fat that they are easy to manage. By using WordPress, the content can easily and quick updated or modified. And because of the consistent support from the community, updates and patches helps to keep the websites/web portal perform efficiently.

Over time like any software, websites and web-portals will require maintenance services. The maintenance services can take different form, sometime it can be just updating the theme or UI, may be fix bugs, while it can also be an enhancement or adding new features. Optimization of the website to perform faster and efficiently is also a maintenance service activity. For websites and web-portals, optimizations needs to done after evaluating the site data and traffic, which can add value to the user experience.

Websites and web-portals that uses API or third-party plugins will always need to invest in a maintenance service team. This is because an update on website CMS most often trigger the need to modify and/or adjusts related plugins and APIs which can hinder the optimal performance of the site. Though updates are important it is vital that only necessary updates need to be made to the portal.

Reaching out to the right developer or team can be confusing and risky affair for most. But maintenance of the website or web portal is essential and vital. Hence while making the choice it is wise to be doing some research on what exactly is needed and then approaching the right team. The right team can be in-house or sourced externally. For individuals and independent business owners it is wise to source the same as maintaining an in-house team can be quiet expensive. And in big enterprises where cost and time is of prime importance sourcing is the right choice. So if you have a website or portal that uses any off-the-shelf CMS like WordPress, Drupal, Joomla etc it is wise to seek help from a seasoned team to do periodical maintenance.

Role of IT for business in 2015

Technology has played a major part in the rapid development of several industries. But in this fast moving business environment the role of IT is evolving. Earlier IT was the driving force for many industries and now it has slowly changed where the role of IT is to leverage the existing processes and workflow. Investment in IT is always worthwhile for bigger organizations as it does have a long lasting impact on the firm.

There have been many predictions about the trends for tech industry in 2015 and among them in-house development is something that has caught my eye. In a nutshell, in-house development means having a dedicated IT team for organizations to meet all the technology demands of that organization. This includes not only support but further development of the software applications that they are currently using.

From a business point of view, in-house development may seems to be faster and much more reliable that a service partner. For many organizations having to depend on external parties for supporting their internal IT leveraged processes is not acceptable. Hence many are making the move on having an in-house development team.

There is another group of experts suggesting that in-house development will not catch on as it does not bring in the same advantages as benefits as have an IT service provider. Cost is the primary concern of many organizations and for them having an in-house team would not be ideal. Expertise, technical knowledge etc which can be gained through a strategic partnership will be lost if an in-house team is established.

Though organizations are setting up in-house IT teams, the need for an external IT service providers cannot be denied. IT service providers vary depending on the type of service they provide and they may have different partnership plans which an organization can choose to rightly support their needs.
